Snow Black and the Great North run feral cat plan

In two month's time I expect my body to be crippled and to be doing not much more than lying in a bath for a week, on 18 September I will be taking part in the Great North Run. I signed up on impulse just before New Year's Day last year, because I hate New Years and needed to do something to feel excited about, I knew that even though I probably wasn't as fit as I'd have liked to have been to enter. if I told everyone I was doing it, I'd be too stubborn to back down.
The main advantage, I thought, was that I would get a super amazing body from all the training and I'd look so good that I could run it in one of those crop tops and a tiny pair of shorts like what proper runners wear...that's not really happened, I get spells where I train a lot, then times when I do something stupid like sprain my foot or fall off a trapeze and it means I have to take a break from it.
The thing I am quite worried about is being so slow that even people in giant costumes will take over me, I am also afraid of those people who wear costumes where you cant see their eyes, so It might make me feel like I am running through a nightmare. This is when i came up with the feral cat plan, I am running for a charity called farplace animal rescue who are a no kill animal sanctuary. They asked if i wanted to wear pink rabbit's ears during the run, which sounded like a bad idea to me, its a televised event and upon the tiniest chance that the cameras will show me, it will be bad enough that i'll be filmed wearing lycra, nevermind rabbit ears. Also, its a bit of a shame but I think rabbit ears now are just associated with playboy bunnies or sexy bunny Halloween outfits when girls no longer dress up as ghosts or blood covered zombies but think of an animal and try to make it look sexy, its weird and its wrong, cats and bunnies are not sexy.
If I did have to run in an outfit, it would be a feral cat, because I think they'd have a bit more character and the charity looks after a lot of them, and it would mean I could hide under my huge furry costume so no one would know it was actually me if i was really slow, and I definitely wouldnt have to try and look sexy....just......feral?!

Snow Black and the Eels concert

Last Monday I went to Newcastle to see the Eels at the o2 academy. The Eels are one of my favorite bands and I listen to their music a lot. There is something about the front-man Mark Oliver Everett that makes you not able to take your eyes off him for the entire show, I am a little bit in love with him, especially now he has his amazing beard, you just don't see enough beards these days...

The crowd were a bit of a letdown though, I don't know what was wrong with them, they only seemed to get excited when they played "novocaine for the soul" and when they played one of my favorites (fresh blood) and all I wanted to do was smile and dance about, no one moved-even though it was AMAZING live and the red lighting was ACE. I like how you can listen to albums over and over and bypass some songs then hear one live and it ends up one of your favourites, this happened with "this is where it gets good"
I wore my lace body with a stripey t shirt over the top, black shorts, and my super massive high wooden heeled boots that I wore incase I got stuck behind a tall person (I ended up stood behind a boy of about 11 years old and had a perfect view but sore as hell feet.) When the gig was over I could barely walk so I stumbled into a nearby fish and chip shop and got what has to be the best take away you can get in the north east-chips, mushy peas and scraps (or batter as the geordies call it) So even if the geordie crowd let me down, the food there never will...

Snow Black and the big clearout

This weekend was time to clearout my wardrobe....
bye bye lovely dresses and tops with crazy patterns.....

I wore a t shirt which I felt summed up this last week the best......

And now I have cleared so much out, its time to put on my drawing shoes and drink a lot of tea and vow never to own so many clothes again (unless i convert my en suite into a wardrobe)........

Snow Black's Coffee, the police box dream

Dotted around Edinburgh are lots of police boxes, some are stood empty and others have been turned into coffee stands, usually staffed by people with dreadlocks and clothes that you buy from those shops that smell of incense (not to generalise of course....) For a while now I've dreamed about owning one, I'd spend my night times baking cheesecakes and muffins and then get up really early and sit in my police box all day watching the world go by, I don't think I could quite pull off red dreadlocks though...
One of the police boxes went up for sale last year and I wished I was rich and could buy it and live happily ever after, but I'm not rich, and now it's up for rent, and I'm not even rich enough to rent it. That made me quite sad, if I could rent it I'd sell so much coffee and loads of milkshakes that the nearby costa and starbucks would have to close down. I'd wear my nicest dresses to work like the white one with a strawberry pattern and I'd play music that made me happy (today it'd have to be this)The only problem would be that I'd probably drink so many milkshakes that I'd never make a profit and I'd get so fat I wouldn't be able to fit inside the stand. Oh well, maybe its best I'm not rich after all.

Snow Black and the back crunching trapeze fall

Today was my last aerial skills lesson of the summer semester and I was really looking forward to putting my routine together and getting some photographs taken to show everyone what I've been up to. When I first started the class I was scared of lots of the moves, today I was brave....and fell. badly. turns out my left hand still has a lousy grip (I blame my rollerskating accident for this, aged 7) The worst bit was the really loud crunch noise that you don't want to hear coming from your own body. The best bit was the spectacular way I landed, I was told not to move and it was then that I became aware that I'd landed with arms and legs all over the place, resembling one of those chalk outlines of murder victims from a comedy film.
I've now had a coating of painkilling gel smothered all over my back and have heat patches stuck all over it, I look like a walking science experiment. Good news is I've been told it takes 7 bad falls to become really good at trapeze, so I feel like i'm making progress......

I've started to add some of my drawings to the flickr group "What I wore today" go have a look

Snow Black's first Scottish beach trip

Beach boys-I get around

This weekend it was so hot that I decided to escape to the beach for an afternoon. It felt strange to be in a bikini outdoors in Scotland. The last time I was on a beach it was Santa Monica beach in L.A, where I saw tanned, beautiful people everywhere; yesterday at the beach I saw a goth with an insane mohawk that didn't collapse in the heat and a woman wearing a thong bikini, British people are weird in the summer.
